Understanding AI visibility
These terms describe the practice Programate Lift is built for and the category it operates in.
- AI visibility
The measure of how often and how prominently your brand appears when buyers ask AI engines for advice, comparisons, or recommendations in your market. The core concept behind Programate Lift.
- Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
A practice for ensuring your brand appears accurately and prominently in AI-generated answers. Used interchangeably with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI visibility.
- Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
A practice for optimizing your brand’s presence across generative AI systems. Used interchangeably with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and AI visibility.
- Recommendation rate
The percentage of times your brand is recommended by AI across AI models and across your personas when buyers ask, unprompted, about the problem you solve. The core metric Programate Lift tracks. A rising recommendation rate means AI is recommending you consistently when your personas inquire about a challenge they have. A brand can appear without being recommended; that is scored as a fail.
Your workspace
These terms describe how Programate Lift is set up before you run any checks.
- Workspace
A dedicated environment for a single brand, client, or project. Each workspace holds its own library, persona, run history, and results. Pay As You Go includes one workspace. Pro includes five. Scale includes 25.
- Library
Each workspace has its own library: the target, persona, questions, and categories that define how Programate Lift represents your brand. The precision of your library directly affects the quality of your run outputs.
- Target
The specific product, service, or brand you want AI to recommend. Defined in your library and used throughout your workspace to evaluate recommendation presence.
- Category
The market space you compete in, defined in your library. Used to frame your brand’s competitive context in runs and to structure Reputation checks against your selected target category.
- Persona
The description of the specific buyer you want AI to recommend you to: who they are, what they care about, and how they search. Programate Lift surfaces personas from your URL when you set up a workspace.
Running a check
These terms describe the checks you can run and what happens during them.
- Alignment check
A check that compares your workspace setup, your library identity, categories, personas, and questions, against what an AI actually extracts from your live site. It tells you whether AI sees your brand the way you intend and returns specific gaps with recommended fixes. It does not use your Discovery or Reputation scores.
- Discovery
A run type that asks buyer questions without naming your brand, then measures how often AI puts you forward. Discovery probes your recommendation rate; in advanced mode you choose which AI engines to run against.
- Reputation check
A run type that checks what AI says when buyers ask about you directly. It shows how AI compares you to others, what it names as your strengths and weaknesses, and how trustworthy it considers your brand, products, or services, run against your target category.
- Run
A single check executed through one or more AI engines using your workspace setup.
- Runs
The area of the tool where you check the specific details of a check. Built for advanced users, it shows exactly what ran and what happened.
- Fan-out queries
The further queries AI models explored across your runs for your brand, shown most frequent first. Fan-out queries reveal how AI thinks about your category and what it is working to resolve before forming a recommendation.
- Parallel runs
The number of checks you can run simultaneously. Pay As You Go: one. Pro: three. Scale: six.
Your results
These terms describe what Programate Lift returns after a check.
- Alerts
Negative artifacts AI is reading about your brand. Alerts surface content that may be working against your reputation in AI recommendations. Address these at the source.
- Comparables
The brands AI mentions alongside you across your checks. Comparables show sentiment: how positively AI talks about each brand when it comes up. Blue indicates praised, orange indicates criticized, gray indicates neutral.
- Competitors
The brands AI sees alongside you, grouped by whether they are inside or outside your category. Select competitors to add to your Workspace Library for future head-to-head comparisons.
- Deciding sources
The external websites that AI engines consulted when forming a recommendation in your category. Programate Lift identifies which sources tipped the answer and shows you which ones are within reach. No score without a source.
- Sources
Two types of sources surface during a Reputation check. Your own pages shows which of your website pages AI has cited while researching your brand. Queries AI ran shows the further queries AI models explored while looking into your brand directly. See also: Fan-out queries and Deciding sources.
- Strategy
On-page changes so AI can see more of your setup, plus improvements that help your personas find you when they use an AI model. Strategy appears within alignment, discovery, and reputation, and also shows you where to invest for offsite presence.
- Trend
Your recommendation rate over time. Run trend analysis after you have made improvements to your online presence that have had time to be read by AI engines.
- Act
A planning tool that brings all of your recommended changes into one place. Act aggregates the recommendations from your alignment, discovery, and reputation checks so you can manage and complete content and site changes, both on and off your website, to improve your AI recommendation rate.
- Shareable reports
A snapshot of where AI stands on a brand, bringing Alignment, Reputation, and Discovery together in one document you can share with a client, prospect, or stakeholder. Export in PDF, Word, or Markdown; the Markdown format is machine-readable so a report can be fed directly into an agentic system.
Plans and billing
These terms describe how Programate Lift is priced and how billing works.
- Pay As You Go
A plan with no monthly fee. Buy credits when you need them at $1 per 100 credits, $10 minimum per refill. One workspace included. Purchased credits expire one year from the date of purchase.
- Pro
A monthly plan at $49 per month. Five workspaces, 5,250 credits per month included, five percent bonus on every refill, three parallel runs. Annual billing available at $490 per year, saving $98.
- Scale
A monthly plan at $199 per month. 25 workspaces, 22,000 credits per month included, ten percent bonus on every refill, six parallel runs, priority throughput. Annual billing available at $1,990 per year, saving $398.
- Credit
Credits are what runs cost. The number of credits a run consumes varies based on which AI engines you check, the number of conversation steps the persona takes to reach an answer, and the number of questions being tested. 100 credits cost $1. Purchased credits expire one year from the date of purchase. Monthly subscription credits roll over once, into the following month, then expire.
- Credit refill
A purchase of additional credits beyond your monthly allocation, or any credit purchase on Pay As You Go. Pro subscribers receive a five percent bonus on every refill. Scale subscribers receive a ten percent bonus.
- Priority throughput
A processing advantage available on the Scale plan that reduces queue time for runs during periods of high platform demand.
- Team management
Available on Pro and Scale. Three roles: Admin has full access including billing, plan, and team management. Manager runs checks and uses credits with no access to billing, plan, or team management. Viewer has view-only access and cannot spend credits.
- Free report
A free Discovery check, available with no account and no credit card. Review three generated buyer questions, then see whether AI recommends your business without being prompted with its name. The report includes your business profile and findings from the questions and models tested. Email the report to yourself or save the Discovery check to your account.
